About
I am a Houston native and have been creating art since my childhood. Blessed to be accepted and attend Houston School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) as a high school student, I received a solid fine arts foundation and later furthered my education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. Although my formal schooling laid the groundwork to pursue art, my life experiences allowed me to persevere and grow as an artist. Balancing family, work, and my passion to pursue art as a career has been a challenge, but has proven to be the catalyst for allowing my art career to flourish.
In my early years, I painted with oil, becoming adept at working with this medium to create photo realistic works of art. I later moved to acrylics, initially creating realistic and detailed works of art of a variety of subject matter. Subsequently, I experimented with realistic abstract paintings using bold colors and less controlled brush strokes, while still maintaining the integrity of the subject matter. As I began to take on larger projects, I began working with latex paints. Proving to be a welcome challenge, I quickly learned how to manipulate the paint to create the desired colors and effects necessary to fashion my projects.
Presently, I endeavor to take on large scale mural projects where I can connect with the community and the voice of the client or theme I depict. I excel in working with clients to execute their vision by planning and implementing designs that create a connection to the community through the use of vibrant colors and unique compositions. I focus on locations such as schools, small businesses, and public art that matter most to me, have the most profound impact, and where my artistic vision will come to life!
