Kiera Jackson is 18 years old and an honors graduate from Nimitz High School. During her high school career, she attended Lonestar Community College as well as Houston Community College. This fall, she is attending Howard University with 30+ college credits.
She is a dedicated dancer and has been dancing since the fifth grade. She formerly attended Humphrey’s School of Musical Theatre, took classes at The Metropolitan Dance Center, and The Houston Dance Lab. When she was in the eighth grade, she auditioned for her high school’s dance team and made varsity. Once she entered Nimitz Ninth Grade Center, she was accepted in the High School of the Performing and Visual Arts. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to attend the school due to transportation issues.
She recently participated in the Houston Museum of Natural Science “Dream Big” essay competition and ranked fourth place out of two hundred students. She also got a Silver Key and Honorable Mention for her essays in the Scholastics Art & Writing Competition. Then, wrote a play that placed twice in the NAACP ACT-SO competition-- silver one year and gold the next.
Singing is also one of Kiera’s passions. She has been singing since the womb. She was in choir from kindergarten to the 12th grade. In her free time, she enjoys singing in the varsity choir and playing the piano. She recently took a trip to Los Angeles for the 2019 Arts and Entertainment Intensive and got to go to the Black Image Awards. Kiera is also an avid member of the NAACP. Each year of her high school career, she participated in the ACT-SO competition. Last year she placed Silver in the Original Essay category and Gold in the Playwright category. By placing gold, she went to nationals in Detroit and got to perform at the Fox Theater next to celebrities. In this year of 2020, Kiera plans to hone all of her crafts including: singing, dancing, acting, writing, and playing piano.
