About

Nature is my power station. It’s a place for observation, imagination, and contemplation — a space where the soul comes out to play with wide-eyed wonder.

When my head is full of chaotic thoughts, art allows me a place to empty those thoughts onto a space where I can see with new eyes and a different perspective. Nature provides the sacred safe space to be vulnerable. Nature nurtures me while I escape into my inner world.

To connect and engage on a soulful level is my aspiration for making art and telling my visual story. My focus is on the process of creating rather than the end result. I weave my thoughts, emotions, and observations to tell a story in or of nature. I develop my work through a process of drawing and painted layers. Adding then editing. This action gives way to new insights while delivering richer colors and surface texture. Rhythm and movement is incorporated to direct’s the viewers eye from one place to another. The energy I focus on capturing in my work is somewhere between exhilarating and serene.

My professional career as an artist started when I was 19. I traveled the globe for about 10 years designing scarves nationally for a ladies accessory firm. I set aside textile design to earn a BFA in painting and graduated with honors and Chancellor’s scholar holding top GPA. I have been fortunate to win many scholarships and grants that has afforded me the opportunity to set up studios in various locations ranging from the Berkshire mountains to Central Europe. My absolute dream adventure was a residency program for eight months at the Egon Schiele Art Centrum in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic.

In 2008 I moved to the artist warehouse district in downtown Houston. I walked to Discovery Green often to get my nature fix. Many drawings and paintings have been inspired by Discovery Green’s artful city landscape. Five years later I got married and settle down into country life just outside of Houston. I have been blessed with nature outside every window of our home that is nestled on three acres of rustic landscape. Inspiration for endless work.
